Common Questions
At what age should my child see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation at age 7. At this age, we can identify early growth or bite issues and determine whether treatment is needed right away or simply monitored over time. In many cases, no immediate treatment is necessary—but an early visit helps ensure your child’s smile is developing as it should.
What does the first visit look like?
Your first visit includes a conversation with our team to discuss your goals, along with an exam by one of our doctors. From there, if treatment is recommended, we’ll take or schedule records (x-rays / photos / 3D scans) and follow up with a visit to review your personalized treatment plan.
Is the initial consultation really free?
Yes—your initial consultation is complimentary and free of charge. This visit allows us to review your concerns, perform a brief exam, and discuss potential treatment options with no obligation to move forward.
How often will I need to come in for appointments?
Most orthodontic appointments are scheduled every 6 to 10 weeks, depending on your treatment plan. Visits are typically quick and help ensure everything stays on track throughout treatment.
Will braces or aligners affect eating and daily activities?
There may be a short adjustment period at the beginning of treatment, but most patients adapt quickly. With braces, certain foods should be avoided, while aligners can be removed for meals. We’ll review everything you need to know so treatment fits smoothly into daily life.
